Mondial 2006 La Tournée débute par le Brésil
Le trophée de la Coupe du monde, en tournée jusqu'en juin dans 28 pays du globe, est arrivée jeudi à Rio de Janeiro, dans le pays du football-roi qui a remporté cinq fois la prestigieuse compétition.
La Coupe a été accueillie, lors d'une cérémonie, par des représentants des cinq équipes nationales championnes du monde: Mario Zagallo, qui l'a remportée comme joueur en 1958 et 1962 et comme entraîneur en 1970, Nilton Santos, double champion du monde en 1958 et 1962, Carlos Alberto Torres, capitaine des "auriverde" en 1970, Bebeto, buteur de la sélection championne du monde en 1990, et Marcos, gardien de but lors du cinquième et dernier titre en date (2002).
"J'ai embrassé et brandi cette Coupe. Cette année, je vais la brandir de nouveau", a déclaré Zagallo, coordinateur de la sélection brésilienne.
Le Brésil conserve la première version du trophée, la Coupe Jules-Rimet, qu'il a définitivement remportée lors de sa 3e victoire en 1970.
Le trophée actuel, représentant "les silhouettes de deux sportifs transcendés par la victoire" selon son créateur Silvio Gazzaniga, sera exposé dans le fort de la plage de Copacabana avant de poursuivre sa tournée dans 23 pays d'Amérique, d'Asie et d'Europe.
Le trophée, qui mesure 36,8 cm, pèse 6,175 kg et est en or massif 18 carats, a débuté sa tournée -la première de son histoire- le 6 janvier au Ghana, et l'a poursuivi au Nigeria, en Tanzanie et en Afrique du Sud.
La Coupe doit terminer son périple à Rome le 10 avril avant d'effecteur le tour de l'Allemagne, pays-organisateur du Mondial-2006 (9 juin-9 juillet).
